Grade 1-4

Through a variety of teaching methods, faith formation for younger students aims to foster a love of God and guide them toward a life of discipleship.

Grade 1 - Learning about the Catholic faith can be fun. Students will enjoy learning about God’s love for them as we help to shape student's faith formation and guide them on their lifelong journey as disciples of Christ.

The children should

  • become aware of God’s presence and goodness in their lives, in others, in the world, and in His church.

  • respond to God’s goodness by loving him and others.

Grade 2 - Preparation for students' first celebration of the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.

The children should

  • come to realize God’s loving care for them, especially through the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.

  • respond to God’s call to give themselves in loving service to him and to others.

Grade 3 - Traditional Catholic prayers such as The Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary, and Apostles' Creed. are like family heirlooms passed on from generation to generation. Students will learn what the meaning of these traditional prayers is and will learn about other prayers of the Catholic faith, prayers of intercession, devotions to Mary and prayers of the Mass.

The children should

  • come to a knowledge and an appreciation of our traditional Catholic prayers including the prayers of the Mass

  • recognize and understand the truths Catholics believe and express in the Apostles’ Creed

Grade 4 - The focus is on the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes as guides for living.

The children should

  • grow in understanding and appreciation of God’s ever-present and loving guidance.

  • choose to live the Commandments in the spirit of the Beatitudes.
